From Gangbuk-gu, Seoul Lab Dental in Uijeongbu is a short subway trip up Line 1 — roughly 25 to 30 minutes, with one straightforward transfer at Chang-dong.
Gangbuk-gu is in northern Seoul, just south of the city line — close to Uijeongbu but served mainly by Subway Line 4 rather than Line 1. The good news is that the connection is simple: one transfer puts you on a direct northbound train to Uijeongbu.
Getting here from Gangbuk-gu
The cleanest route is Line 4 to Chang-dong, then Line 1 northbound.
| From | Route | To | Approx. time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Suyu / Mia (Line 4) | Line 4 → transfer at Chang-dong → Line 1 (northbound) | Uijeongbu Station | ~25–30 min |
Chang-dong is where Line 4 meets Line 1, so it's a single, well-signposted transfer. From Uijeongbu Station the clinic is about a 10-minute walk.
Tip: if you're near the top of Gangbuk-gu, a taxi to Uijeongbu is also quick — the two areas sit right next to each other.
If you're on the Ui-Sinseol line
The Ui-Sinseol light rail runs up the western side of Gangbuk-gu through Suyu, Samyang and Solsaem toward Bukhansan Ui. It doesn't connect north to Uijeongbu directly, so the practical move is to ride it to a Line 4 station and pick up the route above, or take a bus east toward Chang-dong.
From the Ui-dong and Suyu-dong side, a bus or taxi across to Line 1 is often quicker than two rail transfers. It's worth comparing both on the day.
Geographically closer than the map suggests
Gangbuk-gu shares a border with the Uijeongbu side of the metropolitan line, which is why a taxi can be surprisingly fast — especially outside rush hour, and especially from the northern end of the district around Ui-dong and Beon-dong. If you're coming for a longer appointment and the timing is awkward, it can be worth the fare rather than the transfer.
Why Gangbuk-gu residents make the trip
- Your diagnosis, options, and cost explained in English
- A 3D digital scan and a written estimate before any treatment
- Implants, orthodontics, and general care, about half an hour from home
For many residents, half an hour to a clinic that works comfortably in English beats guessing through a language barrier closer to home — particularly for anything where you need to weigh options rather than just be treated.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get to the clinic from Gangbuk-gu?
Take Line 4 from Suyu or Mia to Chang-dong, then transfer to Line 1 northbound to Uijeongbu — roughly 25 to 30 minutes, plus about a 10-minute walk from the station. Chang-dong is a single signposted transfer inside one station.
I'm near the Ui-Sinseol line — what's the best route?
The Ui-Sinseol light rail doesn't run north to Uijeongbu, so ride it to a Line 4 station and pick up the Chang-dong route, or take a bus east toward Chang-dong. From the Ui-dong and Suyu-dong side, a bus or taxi across to Line 1 is often quicker than two rail transfers.
Is a taxi practical from Gangbuk-gu?
It can be. Gangbuk-gu sits right next to the Uijeongbu side of the city line, so a taxi is quick outside rush hour — especially from the northern end around Ui-dong and Beon-dong, and especially if you're coming for a longer appointment.
Can I use NHIS as a foreign resident?
Yes, if you're enrolled — it applies to covered treatment the same way it does for Korean nationals. Bring your card or number and we'll tell you what applies in your case.
What should I bring to a first visit?
Your ARC, your NHIS card or number if you're enrolled, a list of any medication you take, and any X-rays from a previous dentist.
