Guri connects to Uijeongbu by rail with a single transfer at Hoegi or Cheongnyangni. Guri also gained a Line 8 station recently — but that line runs the other way, so here's the route that actually helps.
Guri sits east of Seoul on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line, close enough to Uijeongbu that the trip is a single transfer. Here's how it works, and which of Guri's two rail lines is the one you want.
Getting here from Guri
The usual route is the Gyeongui-Jungang Line into Seoul, then Line 1 northbound.
| From | Route | To | Approx. time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Guri Station | Gyeongui-Jungang Line → transfer at Hoegi or Cheongnyangni → Line 1 (northbound) | Uijeongbu Station | ~50 min |
Both Hoegi and Cheongnyangni connect the Gyeongui-Jungang Line to Line 1, so take whichever your train reaches first and check the platform signs. From Uijeongbu Station the clinic is about a 10-minute walk.
Guri has two lines — only one points this way
Guri gained a Line 8 station when the Byeollae extension opened, which was a genuine improvement for the city. For this trip, though, it's the wrong direction: Line 8 runs south toward Amsa, Cheonho and Jamsil, not north toward Uijeongbu.
So for getting here, the Gyeongui-Jungang Line remains the route — west into Seoul, then north on Line 1. Worth knowing before you plan, because the newest line on the map isn't always the one you want.
Driving is often competitive
Guri and Uijeongbu are closer by road than the rail route suggests, because the train takes you west into Seoul before turning north — a detour the road doesn't make. Outside rush hour, driving is frequently the faster option, and there's paid parking around the Uijeongbu Station area.
If you're deciding on the day, Naver Map or Kakao Map will compare the two for your exact address, in English.
Why Guri residents make the trip
- Your diagnosis, options, and cost explained in English
- A 3D digital scan and a written estimate before any treatment
- Implants, orthodontics, and general care, explained in a language you can ask questions in
For a routine cleaning the distance is a real consideration. For implants, orthodontics, or anything where you need to weigh options and understand a quote, most people find one transfer a reasonable price for a conversation they can actually follow.
Before you come
Bring your ARC and your NHIS card or number if you're enrolled, plus any previous X-rays — on a longer trip they're especially worth having, since they can save a repeat scan. Our guide to your first dental visit in Korea covers what happens on the day, and our guide to dental costs in Korea explains how to read the written estimate.
Planning your visit
Message us in English first and we'll suggest a time and a rough idea of cost — and if it's a longer trip for you, we'll try to combine your consultation and scan into one visit.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get to the clinic from Guri?
Take the Gyeongui-Jungang Line from Guri Station and transfer to Line 1 northbound at Hoegi or Cheongnyangni — whichever your train reaches first. It's roughly 50 minutes, plus about a 10-minute walk from Uijeongbu Station.
Can I use Line 8 from Guri?
Not for this trip. Line 8 from Guri runs south toward Amsa, Cheonho and Jamsil, not north toward Uijeongbu. The Gyeongui-Jungang Line into Seoul and then Line 1 north is the route that works.
Is driving faster?
Often, outside rush hour. The train goes west into Seoul before turning north, a detour the road doesn't make. There's paid parking around the Uijeongbu Station area, and Naver or Kakao Map will compare both options for your address in English.
Is it worth the trip for a routine appointment?
For a cleaning, the distance is a fair consideration. For implants, orthodontics, or anything where you need to weigh options and understand a quote, most people find one transfer a reasonable price for a conversation they can follow.
What should I bring?
Your ARC, your NHIS card or number if you're enrolled, a list of any medication you take, and any X-rays from a previous dentist — worth having on a longer trip, since they can save a repeat scan.
